I love houndstooth. So of course I had to get this adorable kit from Sir Scrapalot called Lil' Stinker.
I love houndstooth. So of course I had to get this adorable kit from Sir Scrapalot called Lil' Stinker.
I really like this peek a book flower peeking through the window. So when I went to grab some paper to use with the card, the window image really took off. I used Basic Grey's Mellow for the fun spring card.
I love the dichotomy of the office type grid paper with the license plate elements in Gina Cabrera's kit, My Funky Studio. The Fanciful Felt Ribbon letters are from Pattie Knox.
It is so cool when people give free stuff. And just the dregs but good stuff. I got this free kit from Designs by Anita called Jump for Joy. I love the colors. The word art is Cathy Zielske. I started to add some butterflies to the empty space but took them off. "White" space can be good.
This sketch shows 15 flowers. Or if the kit you have has some great embellishment, use those. I used the flowers, fruit, heart & butterfly in Echo Park's A Walk in the Park paper collections and elements collection at Jessica Sprague.
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Scotty Girl Design Celtic Mist was used on this card. Celtic knots are from Graphic Illustrations.
The first time I made this sketch, the intent was that each bar would be incremental in grayscale. Or maybe the same color in different patterns. There are plenty of ways to interpret this sketch. When I was scrolling through my kits looking for the right papers, I liked the way Karen Funk's Bloom looked in the preview.
I am getting so far ahead of myself. I actually made this card February 23 and Nancy's birthday isn't until May. This is what happens when I get into something "new." I got a little crazy until I burn out. So maybe I will have all the cards I need for the years done before I get tired of this. I used Basic Grey's Two Scoops for this card.
How do you remember birthdays? Do you use a birthday calendar? A regular calendar? I have a really good memory for birthdays. But not such a good memory to remember to send a card. I have an iPhone app. My current favorite is Occasions. For 99¢ is does a great job. You can have it notify you in advance from 1 day to 30 days. And you can turn off individual notifications for certain people. People you want to remember if you see them but not that you need to send a card. Occasions lets you add event like a child's birthday or anniversary. Something that Apple's iCal doesn't do too easily. Though one problem is that iCal and BusyCal do not read those added dates. So while I was skimming BusyCal for upcoming birthdays in March, I missed Elyssa's birthday because hers is added to her mother's contact info. I needed to add Elyssa as a contact so it will show in iCal and BusyCal. Occasions is native to the iPad yet. For Elyssa's card, I used Cait from ErinInk.
I love Cosmo Cricket. And when I first saw this collection,
, I thought it was by Cosmo Cricket. But it is by
. And I got this kit and the elements kit for $1 each during a recent One Buck Wednesday sale at
. And here I show how digital is better than paper scrapbooking. In that I can adjust the size of the paper. Some of the papers are used more than one but I adjusted the scale so it's not obvious.
Designs by Anita makes some beautiful kits. I love the blues and greens of A New Morning. I picked it up recently at Tickle Your Tuesdays by mscraps. Brush stamps are from Katie Pertiet and Graphic Illustrations.
Do you read The Daily Digi? It is one of the first places my friend Kim told me to check out in regards to digital scrapbooking. They don't really have a store, more like a monthly kit featuring different designers. I haven't subscribed to the kit as there are too many unknowns as far as design goes. But I do subscribe to their blog and get information about special discount codes. I picked up several kits from Meghan Mullins at 40% off through them. ABC's of You is the one I tried first. I love her colors. And I had to use the ribbons.
A punny name, reds and olive and brown and polka dots? I am all over Audrey Neal's Olive You kit. Even better is that I learned how to make all the circles on one layer.
I am not much of a purple girl. But I do appreciate good colorways which include purple. And I know that some of my friends and family love purple and I try to make cards that they would appreciate. That is the reason I picked up Gentle by AV Designs. The colors and patterns are lovely. I did have trouble using the elements. They are more photo realistic than I like for digital designs. It's a quirk but I don't like using "fake" ribbon or buttons on digital designs. I used digital brushes by KI Memories and Katie Pertiet.
I love this style of vintage look. The reds, blacks & creams with typewriter fonts. Jenni Bowlin is one of my favorite paper designers. A search showed me that she tried going digital but that stopped last year. There is supposed a new site but I haven't found it yet. Meanwhile, I am happy to use this kit by Audrey Neal, Authentic Papers & Elements. You can find it at Design House Digital.
It seems like triangles should be easy to make in photoshop. Actually they are once you know what you are doing. Once I googled and found the answer, I saved my triangle in my shapes for the next time I need one. I used the Creativity by Crystal's August 2009 Paper Collection for this card. I used the same collection for yesterday's card, but chose to take advantage of all the gorgeous colors. The flair and flashcard are also available at Jessica Sprague.
How does one pick a few papers from a collection of 75? By color of course. With all these papers, I only had to use one twice. This mega pack, August 2009, is by Creativity by Crystal and is available at Jessica Sprague
