2024 cycling week 44

The mornings were not as cool.

I think I forgot to charge my battery on Wednesday so I only did a short ride on Thursday.

The battery has degraded enough that getting two days of morning rides is not possible.

On Saturday, I did grocery shopping at Publix and Target.

I have to do more yard work so I made my Sunday Coffeeneuring ride a short one. I did a loop around Meadow Pointe then went to Starbucks near home. Since the other Starbucks have opened, this one is not too busy and the service was good.

This week 103 miles

This year 4,852 miles

If I continue my pace of about 100 miles per week, I should reach my goal of 5,000 miles in the next two weeks.

2024 cycling week 42

The weather calmed down this week except for a couple of very cold mornings. Wednesday was below 50°

And Thursday was just about 50°. But I managed to ride both days in the morning. I dressed warm enough with my bike tights and a pair of leggings over them.

It got windy again on Friday and Saturday.

I did my Coffeeneuring ride on Saturday because my sister was visiting on Sunday.

2024 cycling week 41

Hurricane Milton came through on Wednesday and Thursday. It rained all day on Wednesday, we got almost 11 inches! My ride was short and wet even with my Cleverhood. Thursday was drier but windier. I rode in the afternoon before I started cleaning up all the debris in my yard.

Cooler weather came on Friday morning. I was glad that I got one of my new long sleeve merino wool shirts from REI.

I did errands on Saturday. I went to 3 stores looking for chocolate milk.

On Sunday, I went to Sprouts and Starbucks for Coffeeneuring 2.

This week 89 miles

2024 cycling week 40

The wind was back this week. I end up riding faster when it is windy. It sounds counterintuitive but I push harder so my heart rate goes up so I click up to Cargo mode and then go faster and my heart rate goes back down. Rinse and repeat.

Publix and Target on Saturday morning.

The older couple who walked along Beardsley told me that my rear light was out. I saw that one of the wires had come out. I tried to fix it but made it worse. I rode to Oliver’s after lunch on Saturday. They fixed it for $20.

Coffeeneuring began this week. I rode by 3 Starbucks on Saturday but didn’t stop. I usually get a Steamer and it was too hot. I went Sunday morning. It was overcast and raining on and off. The steamer was good for that weather.

This week 121 miles

Day off from work so I rode later and longer.

I tried to conserve battery when the wind was behind me. Still, I ran out of battery when I turned onto CLR. My max speed with no assist is 12 mph and my heart is pumping!

Saturday
Coffeeneuring #13 (bonus)
Start: Cloudy, 68°F, Feels like 69°F, Humidity 96%, Wind 7 (15) mph from NNW
Rode north on Wiregrass Ranch Blvd to SR54
Rode west to the outlet mall.
Crossing SR56, I almost got creamed by an SUV making a right turn on red. There was very little space. The e-bike is heavy and not easy to maneuver quickly.

Starbucks
Chestnut Praline Crème and Gingerbread Loaf. I have never had the gingerbread before.
The gingerbread is OK but mild. There isn't much ginger.
It is chilly (for Florida) so I upped my drink to a grande.
End: Cloudy, 70°F, Feels like 71°F, Humidity 91%, Wind 8 (17) mph from NW
The ride home was uneventful though I was riding on busier and faster roads.

Sunday
Coffeeneuring #14 (bonus)
Start: Partly sunny, 81°F, Feels like 84°F, Humidity 45%, Wind 6mph from N
Afternoon ride because of haircuts and lunch with Andy
Rode through Meadow Pointe across SR54 to Chapel Crossings.
Then I rode north on Curley to Starbucks

A lot less crowded than last visit.
I ordered a tall Crème Brûlée and petite vanilla scones. I got a grande instead and didn't really it until later.
The scones were good but a bit cool. They must keep them refrigerated.
End: Partly sunny, 80°F, Feels like 84°F, Humidity 43%, Wind 6mph from N
The ride home was fine. I took Curley south to SR54 to Wiregrass Ranch Blvd. the tailwind wasn't much but I didn't really need it. But I did not like the gnats.
