There was no school on Wednesday. The boys opted to stay home. They played the wii and I got to nap. Poppa fixed one of the medicine cabinets.

I baked chocolate chip cookies. I am a bit surprised how many calories are in one small cookie. But the extra chocolate chips is so worth it.

I had planned to bake oatmeal cookies but I didn't have enough oatmeal. Meanwhile, the butter was softened and ready. I looked again at Martha Stewart's Cookies: The Very Best Treats to Bake and to Share (Martha Stewart Living Magazine) and thought about chocolate sugar cookies. I needed more butter so I pulled another half stick to soften.

I fell asleep for about an hour but it took another hour of dozing to get me out of the chair. By then it was 3:00. I got up to pee and bake the cookies. Usually the first step is to pre-heat the oven. It was so I read through the whole recipe and saw that this one requires an hour in the fridge to firm up. Ugh. Searched for another recipe and found chocolate chip cookies which are always a favorite. But I didn't need 2 1/2 sticks of butter. I grabbed the half stick softened in the bowl and threw it away.

I added more chips because, well, it's chocolate! But I decided to use the smaller scoop to make me think I was being good. Right, each small cookie is still over 100 calories. Darn that chocolate! I told my dad I was putting them in the freezer and you should have seen his face. What?! Don't you have an air-tight container? Yes, but they still dry out. They stay fresher in the freezer and it only takes a few minutes for them to thaw. And... it keeps me from eating them all in 2 days.

I am reading Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously. It's not a very good book. She rambles and jumps back & forth. I thought there would be more about Julia Child.

Bonnie said she thought of me when reading this. Not the cooking but the blogging. Yes, I blog but I am certainly not going to get a book or movie deal out of the thing. Right?

But this got me thinking that maybe I could do a similar thing with Martha's Cookies book. I could bake a different cookie each week. But then...
• who would eat them? There are lots of recipes I don't even want to eat.
• who would read it? Sure my faithful 3 readers but... Besides, I am not a writer and do not have adventures like Julie Powell does.

So I won't be doing anything like that. I have been thinking about the direction of this blog. There just isn't enough interesting stuff in my life to post everyday. I am thinking of backing off to maybe 2-3 times per week.

Who knows, I will probably change my mind this afternoon.

Oh, I dipped under another digit today! I love when that happens.
