2026 cycling week 33
/August 10-16
The tire issues continued
New tubes and patch kit were supposed to arrive on Monday. Neither arrived by 4:00 pm so I rode my Trek 820 around KBar Ranch. It felt like I hadn’t been riding for years! I am so spoiled by my e-bike. I knew it would be harder without the pedal assist, but I also felt a bit unstable. I wasn’t expecting that.
The patch kit arrived after dinner on Monday so I patched two on the tubes on Tuesday morning. I have I wasn’t sure about them holding up. But the tubes were delayed so I put one of the patched tube on and rode a short loop around KBar Ranch.
The tubes arrived after dinner on Tuesday but I was going to see how long the patches held. I rode in the mornings again and tried to make up some miles by doing 3 loops around KBar Ranch.
New tire arrived on Wednesday. But decided to see how long I could ride with the patched tube and worn tire.
I started out on my ride on Friday morning. I got one loop done and I could feel the tire was losing pressure. I went home.
After work, I decided to change the tire. I put in another patched tube into the new tire. As I went to mount the wheel on the bike, I could hear little bursts of air. The patch was not holding air. I put a new tube in the new tire then did another loop around KBar Ranch.
Friday was the three anniversary of my e-bike. 17,510 miles.
Saturday was groceries. I didn’t need to go to Publix so I rode out of the way for Target and Aldi to make up some mileage. All good with the tire.
I did an early morning ride on Sunday with no issues. It was too early for the sunrise.
This week 99 miles (Strava 94)
This year 3,748 miles (Strava 3592)
Streak 2,360 days
