This is what happens when crape myrtles are pruned at the same spot year after year. It looks like arthritic knuckles and can sometimes lead to the death of the tree. This was in a parking lot so I knew I had to remove the color to help elminiate the colorful cars. There just wasn't a way to take a photo without one in the background.
